You can play and use coaching without allowing analytics.

What we measure if you allow it

We use Google Analytics to understand which parts of Oh My Chess help players: visits to our pages and the Play, Train and Review sections, starting to play, making a move, requesting and receiving coaching, and opening sign-in or membership options. We group how people find the site into broad channels, such as search or social.

A random browser identifier in local storage and first-party analytics cookies connect those events across visits on this device. The cookies expire after 90 days unless renewed by another visit. It is separate from your account and game identifiers. We do not include your email, sign-in codes, moves, coaching text, page query strings or full referring URLs in our analytics events. We do not enable advertising features, session recording or automatic click capture. Google Analytics also measures basic session and engagement information.

Your controls

Analytics starts only after you choose Allow. You can change your choice below or in the game’s Options. Turning it off stops new collection and removes the local analytics identifier and our analytics cookies; it does not delete data already received by Google.

Data sent to the service

Google receives the events and technical connection information, which can include your IP address and browser information. Read Google’s privacy policy for its handling of that data. Our consent preference is stored locally so we can remember your choice.
